Nancy and her newly cropped 'do!

My new 'do!

After several weekends of being out-of-town and perhaps out-of-state, I thought I’d just stay in town for the weekend…but of course, Savannah has its own share of busy festivities.  After getting a hard-earned A on my Contemporary Art History midterm (aren’t ya proud??) I thought I’d indulge in the fun…

A thousand apologies for the "slight delay"…so much has happened and I'll try to sum it all up on this "weekly entry" … first of all, thanks to all of you who signed the guest book (those of you who haven't - it's there for your benefit!!)

Nancy and Jason

Nancy and Jason Tang visiting from Seattle!

Looking for some guys!

The four of us looking at a cute dude! Melissa, Feather, Lara, and Nancy.

First of all, many of you know that I'm an avid fan of the WB"s T.V. show, "Felicity". The main character on that show is played by Keri Russell and way back in the beginning of the season she had cut off her long curly hair REALLY short. Needless to say I was a little tempted to do the same. So…finally when I was in New Mexico visiting with my family, I said, "what the heck!" and had my hairdresser cut it all off. I hadn't had my hair THIS short since I was a toddler. It's very different and so far most of my friends seem to like it (unless they're just being NICE???).

The rest of my stay in New Mexico was WONDERFUL. My sister and brother-in-law were able to fly in for a few days and we had the opportunity to do our "traditional" family picture, which is something we TRY to do every other year. My mom, sister, and I had the huge responsibility of deciding what everybody has to wear for pictures which, of course, is always FUN. The photographic session had us laughing until our sides hurt - everybody having a sense of humor in their own ways.

The "peace" groupies: Nancy, Brian, Lara, and Jason

We're all after "World Peace," Nancy, Brian, Lara, and Jason.

Two sweethearts, Brian and Lara

As for the car, I wasn't able to get my Nissan back so when I flew back to Savannah from New Mexico (which was an EXTREMELY long flight with several delays and cancellations - Thanks, Bethany, for picking me up at the airport!!), my dad flew in the very next day and we took off car-hunting with a fellow friend of mine and his dad. After a couple days of searching, we settled on my friend's car - a 1997 Corolla. It's no Nissan Sentra, but it's really nice - got automatic locks and windows, sunroof, and all. So that's a problem solved.

After my dad left, the following weekend, a buddy of mine from Seattle, flew out to visit me which was really nice and considerate since he's the first friend to come visit me from the west coast (hint, hint!!!). We spent a lot of time by the water - going to Tybee Beach the night he arrived with Lara and Brian. Then to River Street the next night for dinner and a few street shows, then Tybee Beach again the next day, plus a quick swim before he caught his plane back home. To our surprise, we didn't get that much color on our skin.

Nancy and Lara ready to par-tay!

A friend of mine suggested I talk "more" about school and how it had been going for me. Well, good news everybody, I checked my grades recently (from the first quarter) and I've got a 3.66 GPA which is pretty darn good for a graduate student!

School started last week and I wasn't able to enroll for three classes like I had originally planned due to conflicting classes. So this quarter, I'm taking Intermediate Painting and Advanced Life Painting (great…just great - more nude paintings to add to my studio!). The only "negative" thing about summer quarter is even tho I have only two classes and they meet once a week - they are SIX HOURS long EACH. I'm not used to focusing on one painting for the entire day. I'm used to being able to paint for 2-4 hours and then take a break for a few days and then attack the painting again. So it's something I need to get used to.

The gang at it again!

Everybody wants to be in the picture!

Nancy and Feather

"Here's to you, Feather," says Nancy.

I also haven't been having that much luck in finding a job - I was hoping to find a "permanent" good-paying job that could fit in my schedule. I had gone to several personnel offices and many of them HATED my schedule (wanted me to work Mondays-Fridays, 8-5pm) but LOVED my typing and computer skills - of course!!! * kidding * But…I just got a call and I've got a temporary job that FINALLY fits my schedule which makes me very happy. Not only that, one of my former employers said that when the personnel office called her, they sounded really enthusatic about having me get a permanent job and all.

I also recently started teaching ASL (American Sign Language) classes at the Savannah Speech & Hearing Center which meets once a week for a couple hours for six weeks. So far, it's been so much fun. I have around 12-15 students in my class, ranging from maybe 13 to 75 years old - wonderful people. They've been so eager in learning the langauge and it adds all the fun to the class. Everybody has a sign language book to use and I try to do something different each week - show them a sign language video, a sign-song video (you know, one of those sing-along videos - well this one is with sign language), games, and so forth.

The gang over a poor drunken soul.

Somebody's passed out! The gang all huddled up.

Nancy and Lara

Doing that thing that you do! Nancy and Lara.

Once again, I apologize for the delay (AGAIN)…my digital camera has been down for some time so hopefully I'll get it back and it'd be all fixed. Hope you guys had a great 4th of July and a good week ahead of you!
